Customization

Made to order: density, thickness, colour and shape to your drawing. Die-cutting, CNC routing, lamination to film or fabric, slitting and adhesive coating all run in-house, so the part we quote is a finished part, not just a sheet. How a custom part is cut and routed explains what to send with the drawing.

Regular material: MOQ 1,000 m², lead time 15–20 days from order confirmation. Custom parts are quoted from the drawing. A4 samples are free, shipping included.

An outdoor rug is a foam mat laid on the ground to sit or sleep on. Bofeng Foam produces the sheet it is made from in cross-linked polyethylene at 10 mm to 20 mm, where the closed-cell structure does the job that matters outdoors: it keeps ground moisture and ground cold away from the person on top of it.

Features

  • Water-resistant by structure: closed cells cannot fill with water, so the mat stays dry on wet grass and does not gain weight as the day goes on.
  • Thermal separation from the ground: the foam layer breaks the direct conduction path between cold ground and the user, which is the difference between a comfortable rest and a cold one.
  • Light and packable: at these thicknesses the mat rolls or folds into a small volume and adds almost nothing to a pack.
  • Easy to clean: mud and spillage wipe off the closed-cell surface rather than soaking in.
  • Three thicknesses: 10 mm, 15 mm and 20 mm, so the mat can be tuned from a light picnic sheet to a sleeping mat.
  • Available in colour: the sheet is supplied in colour, with the surface printable for branding or pattern.

Applications

  • Picnics and family outings
  • Camping and hiking
  • Beach and park seating
  • Festival and event seating
  • Outdoor yoga and exercise

Specifications for outdoor rug foam

An outdoor rug faces rain and sun, so dimensional stability and colour retention decide the grade.

FoamExpansionApparent densitySingle-layer thicknessWhy this grade
XPE20–30×33.3–50 kg/m³3–15 mmLow water absorption and a dimensional change of no more than 2% at 70 °C, so the rug does not creep in the sun.
IXPE30–40×26.8–33.3 kg/m³0.1–15 mmLighter backing for a thinner, roll-up rug.

Base material specifications are on the XPE, IXPE and IXPP material pages; finished products are on the XPE foam and IXPE foam pages. Tell us the load, the space available and the service temperature and we will confirm the grade against your drawing.

Why Choose Bofeng Foam

We supply outdoor rug foam at 30× foaming (33 kg/m³) in 10 mm, 15 mm and 20 mm, in widths of 0.6 m, 1 m and 1.2 m, in colour with colour made to order. The base material is described on the XPE foam page, and the same sheet is used for the camping mat.

In-house conversion. A rug is a narrow, long part, so we slit the sheet to the rug width and cut it to length rather than leaving you to trim a full-width roll. Regular sheet starts at 1,000 m²; slit and cut rolls are quoted from your sizes.

How little water closed-cell foam actually takes up, and why water-resistant is not the same as waterproof, is measured in our water absorption guide.
