IXPP Foam (Irradiation Cross-Linked Polypropylene Foam), or Radiation Cross-Linked Polypropylene Foam, is a closed-cell foam material formed by treating polypropylene materials with electron beam or gamma ray irradiation under specific conditions. This treatment gives IXPP Foam unique physicochemical properties and makes it suitable for a wide range of applications.

Features

  1. good temperature resistance: IXPP foam can keep its physical properties unchanged in a wide range of temperatures, both in the low temperature to maintain flexibility, but also in the high temperature environment without deformation.
  2. excellent sound and heat insulation effect: because of its internal structure is closed cell, so it can effectively isolate the sound and heat transfer, is the ideal sound and heat insulation material.
  3. Light weight and high strength: Although the density is low, it has good mechanical strength and can withstand certain pressure without being easily damaged.
  4. waterproof and moisture-proof: the closed-cell structure makes it difficult for water to penetrate into the material, thus it has excellent waterproof and moisture-proof ability.
  5. Environmentally friendly and non-toxic: the raw materials used in the production process are all environmentally friendly materials, the finished product does not contain any harmful substances, safe and harmless to the human body.
  6. Easy to process and mould: it can be cut into different shapes and sizes according to the actual needs, and the operation is simple and flexible.

Applications

  1. Automotive industry
    1. Widely used in automobile manufacturing for interior parts such as instrument panels, door panels, etc., to play the role of shock absorption and noise reduction; also used in seat padding to improve the comfort of riding.
  2. Building decoration
    1. Used as wall thermal insulation layer, not only can effectively reduce the energy consumption of buildings, but also improve the quality of the living environment.
    2. Applied under the floor to provide additional cushioning protection and help reduce the transmission of footsteps.
  3. Packaging and Transportation
    1. Use its excellent cushioning performance to package fragile items to ensure the safety of goods during long-distance transport.
    2. It can also be used as a lining material for electronic products, precision instruments and other valuables to prevent damage caused by vibration.
  4. Other fields
    1. In the manufacture of sports equipment, such as yoga mats, fitness equipment sheaths, etc;
    2. Daily necessities industry, making children's toys, home furnishings and so on;
    3. Medical and health field, used in medical equipment packaging or surgical mattresses, etc.

IXPP Foam FAQ

What is IXPP foam used for?

IXPP foam is chosen where higher temperature resistance is needed: automotive interior and engine-compartment insulation, building insulation, high-temperature packaging and gaskets.

What temperature can IXPP foam withstand?

Because IXPP is based on polypropylene and is irradiation cross-linked, it resists higher temperatures than XPE or IXPE — typically up to approximately 130 °C in continuous service.

How does IXPP foam compare to XPE and IXPE?

All three are closed-cell, cross-linked foams. XPE is chemically cross-linked PE, IXPE is irradiation cross-linked PE, and IXPP is irradiation cross-linked polypropylene with the best temperature resistance of the three. IXPP is the right choice when the extra heat resistance justifies the higher cost.

Is IXPP foam waterproof?

Yes. Its closed-cell structure blocks water and moisture, so the sheet can be used in humid environments.

Can you customize the colour of IXPP foam?

Yes. Skin-tone, grey and other colours can be customized.
