Customization

Made to order: density, thickness, colour and shape to your drawing. Die-cutting, CNC routing, lamination to film or fabric, slitting and adhesive coating all run in-house, so the part we quote is a finished part, not just a sheet. How a custom part is cut and routed explains what to send with the drawing.

Regular material: MOQ 1,000 m², lead time 15–20 days from order confirmation. Custom parts are quoted from the drawing. A4 samples are free, shipping included.

Sports protective foam is the padding layer inside a helmet, a knee pad, a glove or a boot liner. Its job is to convert a sharp impact into a slower, spread-out one, and to do it at a thickness the athlete will accept wearing. Bofeng Foam produces it in XPE and IXPE at the higher densities that protection requires.

Features

  • Density for protection: at 15× (66 kg/m³) and 20× (50 kg/m³) the foam is firm enough to absorb a real impact rather than bottoming out.
  • Energy dispersion: the closed-cell structure spreads a point load across the pad, which is what turns a concentrated blow into a distributed one.
  • Thin and wearable: 3 mm to 5 mm means the padding does not change the fit of a helmet or a glove.
  • Resilience: cross-linking lets the foam return to thickness after impact, so protection is not lost after the first fall.
  • Breathable grades: the foam can be perforated or supplied in a grade that lets air move, reducing the heat build-up under a pad.
  • Cuts and bonds cleanly: the sheet dies and laminates predictably, which suits automated protective-equipment production.

Applications

  • Helmet liners and cheek pads
  • Knee, elbow and shin guards
  • Boxing and martial arts glove padding
  • Snowboard and ski boot liners
  • Body armour and impact vests
  • Cycling and equestrian protection

Specifications for sports protective foam

Protective padding has to absorb a blow and then return to shape, and it is usually worn.

FoamExpansionApparent densitySingle-layer thicknessWhy this grade
XPE10–20×50–100 kg/m³3–15 mmHigh resilience with a compression set under 10%, so the padding keeps working over a season.
IXPE20–30×33.3–50 kg/m³0.1–15 mmSofter inner layer against the body, with a smoother surface than an open-cell foam.

Base material specifications are on the XPE, IXPE and IXPP material pages; finished products are on the XPE foam and IXPE foam pages. Tell us the load, the space available and the service temperature and we will confirm the grade against your drawing.

Why Choose Bofeng Foam

We supply protective foam at 15× or 20× foaming in 3 mm, 4 mm and 5 mm, in widths of 1 m, 1.2 m and 1.5 m, in black, white or gray with colour made to order, in both XPE and IXPE. The two materials are compared on the IXPE foam page, and the base grade is on the XPE foam page. A related high-density grade is used for athletic insole foam.

The compression-set row that matters under sustained load is explained in our high density XPE foam guide.

Conclusion & Inquiry

Send the pad drawing, the impact standard you are designing to and the thickness available, and we will confirm the density. Contact us for samples or a quotation.
